— Hunter S. Thompson

Quote № 05:
“This may be the year when we finally come face to face with ourselves; finally just lay back and say it — that we are really just a nation of 220 million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns, and no qualms at all about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable.”
— Hunter S. Thompson

✺ Today’s Questions
Three philosophical questions to foster your curiosity:
Question № 01:
What is the role of doubt and skepticism in the search for knowledge and understanding?
Question № 02:
Can art and literature provide insights into the human condition that science and philosophy cannot?
Question № 03:
Is progress inevitable, or are there cycles of rise and fall in human civilization?

People like to compare all the aspects of humanity to science. I believe this is a fallacy. On of faulty comparison. Science is not something that springs from humans, it is the systematic definition of principles and measurable and therefore observed aspects of the universe. Whether we detect any of them makes no difference, they still exist. Maybe the method could be called into question but not the fundamentals themselves. Meanwhile, all the other examples are expressions of us and what we define ourselves as. And so provide a great deal of insight to our condition.
