✹ For today's Wisdom Letter, we have carefully curated five bite-sized quotes from the American novelist, Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804–1864).
Quote № 01:
“My heart was a habitation large enough for many guests, but lonely and chill, and without a household fire. I longed to kindle one! It seemed not so wild a dream.”
— Nathaniel Hawthorne, “The Scarlet Letter”
Quote № 02:
“It contributes greatly towards a man's moral and intellectual health, to be brought into habits of companionship with individuals unlike himself, who care little for his pursuits, and whose sphere and abilities he must go out of himself to appreciate.”
— Nathaniel Hawthorne, “The Scarlet Letter”
Quote № 03:
“The greatest obstacle to being heroic is the doubt whether one may not be going to prove one's self a fool; the truest heroism is to resist the doubt; and the profoundest wisdom to know when it ought to be resisted, and when to be obeyed.”
— Nathaniel Hawthorne, “The Blithedale Romance”
Quote № 04:
“Nobody, I think, ought to read poetry, or look at pictures or statues, who cannot find a great deal more in them than the poet or artist has actually expressed.”
— Nathaniel Hawthorne, “The Marble Faun”
Quote № 05:
“Love, whether newly born, or aroused from a deathlike slumber, must always create sunshine, filling the heart so full of radiance, that it overflows upon the outward world.”
— Nathaniel Hawthorne, “The Scarlet Letter”

Question 3 answer. Creating one's self is better to improve your life, because it's like a child views the world...as its play toy.. By creating you build the wold as you see fit
"Can love be truly selfless, or is there always some form of self-interest involved?"
Love can be both selfless and selfish. It's a feeling one has, which results in desires to treat others well, to "put others first", but since the feelings are personal, the love itself is selfish. I don't think there is any way to measure and compare what love truly feels like for each person.
